I spent this morning with the 2010 Yearbook Class at Croatan High School. Their teacher, Mr. Joe Banks, had asked if I’d be willing to give a presentation on basic photography techniques to help them improve the images they create for the yearbook. We spent a bit of time discussing basic composition, which camera settings to use in different situations and some of the things that help make a good photograph. Following the presentation we held a short question and answer session. The students definately had some good questions. We then spent a bit of time walking around the campus discussing different shooting situations and how to apply the information we’d covered. I’ll be returning in a few weeks for a follow-up session.
It’s always a pleasure to be able to help young people with an interest in photography. I’m looing forward to returning and having the opportunity to help them learn more about photography and grow as fledgling photojournalist.
