I had the pleasure of attending the Tricoast Photography Finding Color workshop hosted by Black Angel Studio, Chapin, South Carolina. Mike Fulton, Suzy Roberts & Jordan Chan made presentations on the use of Canon’s eTTL and Nikon’s iTTL off camera flash systems. We were also experiemented with the new Radio Popper remote flash triggering system. The Radio Poppers makes it possible to take advantage of the advantages of eTTL/iTTL flash metering systems without the disadvantages of the near-ir linking system used by Canon and Nikon flash systems. There was ample opportunity to master fine tuning exposure settings using these systems by making photographs in a variety of conditions. The final day the Tricoast crew opened up about their approach to shooting, marketing and post processing. It was a really enjoyable experience.
Tricoast Photography has shot weddings around the world. They are noted for their unique fashion-editorial style images and thier use of vibrant colors in their photographs. The following are a few of the imgages I captured during the workshop.

I had a fun shoot with Michelle Wednesday afternoon. I wanted to expand my fashion bridals portfolio a bit and she was interested in having some photos done. To make it a bit more challenging we chose to start the shoot at mid-afternoon, i.e. harsh, strong sunlight. There are a few of the edgier, “rock star” photographers that never shy away from harsh lighting conditions. I wanted to give it a go myself. Here are a few images from the shoot.

I had the pleasure of second shooting a wedding for Charo Photo, Wilmington, NC. Also helping out with the wedding coverage were Allegra’s Studio of Lynchburg, VA and Paige Buchbinder of Richmond, VA. I’d never worked as a second shooter before but it was really fun. Obviously you’re under a little less stress to get the “safe” shots but the really great thing is to watch other professional photographer’s in action… and one thing for sure, these three ladies know how to shoot some great images!
My introduction to second shooting wasn’t my only first for this job. It was also the first time I’ve photographed a traditional Indian Hindu wedding! The colors, sounds and smells were simply amazing! It was a wonderful expereince to say the least. The rehearsal dinner, prayers and mehndi were held at the home of the bride’s parents in Richmond, VA Friday evening. The wedding ceremony took place the next day at the Westover Plantation, a James River plantation.
I could easily post 25, 50 or 75 images from this event, but I’m trying to control myself. The following are a few of my favorites, though my favorites list contains many, many more! Hope you enjoy.
