I particiapted in the 2010 Crystal Coast Bridal Salon in January. I had the pleasure of accompanying participating couples on the tour of beach wedding venues, as well as manning a both at the show and attending the after party. The salon was based at the Shearton Atlantic Beach hotel with the after party held at the North Carolina State Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores. You can learn more about the salon by visiting the Crystal Coast Bride website. Click here to view a slideshow of images from the event.

Wat Carolina Buddhist Temple: Wilmington, North Carolina

I had the opportunity to visit the Wat Carolina Buddhajakra Vanaram, Boliva, NC (between Wilmington & Southport, North Carolina). It was an interesting opportunity for some photography and not something one would normally expect in North Carolina. I’d like to visit again for additional photography in conjunction with one of their holidays/celebrations.

The architecture is more what one would expect to see in Thailand or India rather than southern North Carolina. Another view of the Wat Carolina temple, about 2 hours north of Myrtle Beach, SC

The different roof levels are interesting: Buddhist Association of North Carolina Several statues of the Buddha featured on the shrine in the teaching area in the monk's quarters.

The country club provided the catering and Chris Shafer provided the cake. The flowers were courtesy of The English Rose. Transportation provided by Diamond Limousine. Croatan High School - Newport / Cape Carteret, NC

I spent this morning with the 2010 Yearbook Class at Croatan High School. Their teacher, Mr. Joe Banks, had asked if I’d be willing to give a presentation on basic photography techniques to help them improve the images they create for the yearbook. We spent a bit of time discussing basic composition, which camera settings to use in different situations and some of the things that help make a good photograph. Following the presentation we held a short question and answer session. The students definately had some good questions. We then spent a bit of time walking around the campus discussing different shooting situations and how to apply the information we’d covered. I’ll be returning in a few weeks for a follow-up session.

It’s always a pleasure to be able to help young people with an interest in photography. I’m looing forward to returning and having the opportunity to help them learn more about photography and grow as fledgling photojournalist.

Backseat Romeo - Morehead City, NC Waterfront

Filed under Music • Written by admin @ 10:05 am

My buddy Joe played drums with Backstreet Romeo at Chef 105 on the Morehead City waterfront a couple of weeks ago. I dropped in to take a few photos. It’s been a while since I covered a live music event but, as always, it was a good time. While the band usually includes a bass player, his wife was having a baby that evening so the performed as a trio [ maybe he needs to get his priorities straight? ;) ]. Here’s a few shots.

Ed: Rythm guitar & lead vocals Justin: Lead guitar & vocals

Joe: Drums
